Coffee places

On the hunt for the best café in town

It doesn’t matter if you’re new to Aarhus or you have lived here for years. The city always has something more to offer to its residents and this applies to the coffee houses as well. We were looking for the best café downtown but it was impossible to pick up just one – instead, we came up with the top 5 that we fell in love with.

Espresso House

Located right near the train station, Espresso House attracts hundreds of coffee lovers. If you appreciate a great coffee, then this is the place for you – the quality reaches 80% on a scale of 0-100. This high-quality is also known as Specialty coffee and only 5% of all world’s coffee qualifies as such! Even more, sustainability is also taken into consideration throughout the whole process – from farming and exportation to preparing the coffee itself. A great experience for everyone involved!

Street coffee

If you’re into quality coffee and enjoy a good, soothing music, then this is the place for you.  Street  coffee is the place to go if you’ve had a stressful day at work or you just want to enjoy the calmness of the moment. The coffee house has 3 different shops downtown and 1 at Bassin7 situated by Aarhus Ø. No matter where you decide to go, you’re going to get excellent service nevertheless – you can even take your coffee with you if you’ve got to go off soon.

Løve’s Bog- og VinCafé

This one is for the literature lovers. Besides offering excellent coffee (and wine), you can also pick up and enjoy a good book during your stay. There are a lot of regular events that are worth checking out if you’re an artistic soul and would like to meet someone like you. You can find concerts, lectures and poetry there. Are you hooked? We bet you are! So go out and look past Nørregade 32.

Aarhus Brætspilscafe

Whether you’re out with your friends or family, going to Brætspilscafe is a safe bet that everyone would enjoy staying there. What is unique about this café is that it brings people together by offering the visitors to play board games. There are two cafés in the town and you can have an yearly subscription. Bring your loved ones for a cozy afternoon because what’s better than bonding together over board games and café?

Bådcafe

Last but not least, we highly recommend you the Bådcafe at Marselisborg Yacht Harbor. Here you can enjoy the calm, marine atmosphere of the harbor and the sea while listening to the waves and looking at the beach. In 2017 the café won the AOA award as the City’s Best Café. Besides offering a good coffee and a cozy atmosphere, you can also have a brunch, dine or enjoy an evening cocktail there.
